Under the weather

You know that Shel Silverstein poem, the one that starts "I cannot go to school today, said little Peggy Ann McKay..."? It's sort of how I feel, without the happy ending of it being a weekend (and a 3 day weekend, at that).

I woke up this morning with a sore throat. Despite my best efforts at keeping myself incredibly hydrated and taking things pretty easy, it's lingered. Of course it couldn't come at a worse time. I have three performances coming up, people coming in from out of town, and 2 classes to prep/teach, all in addition to my normal work-a-day world.

Sore throat and headache are the harbingers of feeling like I'm knocking on death's door. Today was a sore throat and headache sort of day. I can only guess what that means.

I generally get sick as a dog once a year, and get really whiney as a result. So bad that *I* don't even want to be around me. It's always around the time when spring is starting to make a comeback. The weather lately has been all over the place: chilly or downright cold in the evenings, overnight, and in the mornings, with the occasional rainstorm, though during the day we have been getting quite a bit of warmish weather. Today it was absolutely beautiful and warm. As a result, things are starting to bloom. In short, spring-like.

Ugh.
