I'm using the much misunderstood and underappreciated Harold Hill "Think Method" for the show today.
The working script that we were given is full of lines that are either not in the show, or missing much of what is in the show. I've been to a rehearsal; I've seen the show three times; I've read through the hot mess of a script that we were given several times, I even perused it briefly last night and just finished doing so again today.
The splits that we have come up with are less than optimal in my mind, for a variety of reasons. I know something is going to go awry, and I'm okay with that. At least, I'm trying to be. I'm recognizing things will go awry, lines will be misinterpreted and forgotten... it's live theater in multiple language modalities.
So, I'm trying to keep the show in my mind--the various sequences, the songs (I'm hoping to Thump when I do them..."Goo goo ga joob"? WTF?!), the overarching story; I'm concentrating on what it should look like.
In short, the Think Method. I hope I break Bob's leg.
