Well I can breathe a sigh of bittersweet relief. Despite how much I detest this time of year, I'm glad Boxing Day is finally here, so that life can get back to some semblance of normal.
I was a little caught off guard this year: I found myself agreeing with several Christian groups (I know!! Geez, I hope you're sitting down reading this...). I agree only insofar as Christmas has become way to freakin commercialized; felt that way for quite some time actually. But that's about as far as my agreement goes. Keep the Christ in Christmas? Please--thousands of years ago self-righteous prigs totally coopted a totally pagan celebration and bastardized it in order to trick non-believers into joining the dark side. How about keeping the Kiss in Kiss my Ass?
Sorry...that rant just slipped out. In lighter news...
A friend of mine from high school, whom I've not seen since 1989, is in town. We've been talking over the last few months. She and I are going to get together tomorrow and hang out. It will probably mean we'll be total immature dorks, just like when we hung in high school. It will be great! I'm totally excited :)
I really have nothing substantive to say; just trying to get my mental juices flowing for the day.
Happy Boxing Day.
Sigh of relief, I agree. Some goodness comes of it, but mostly, I'm glad it is over.
ReplyDeletePeople really don't need more reason to stress out, do they? I know I don't.
Have fun with your friend! Immaturity is highly underrated. :)
