Today's the day: "P-day...packing day." As I write this I'm waiting for the moving truck to get here, totally stressed, completely discombobulated, having my home all boxed up and ready to be loaded in a semi to be shipped half-way across the country.
I realized why it's so unnerving (besides obvious reasons). I've only made two other major moves before. Both times, I was leaving the vast majority of my things behind with someone I was living with; only packing what would fit in my car; relocating and settling. Only then would I return for the rest of my belongings. It was a much easier thing, for me, to do.
This time, pretty much everything is getting packed into a trailer and released from my control; I am keeping only the bare minimums of what I need to get me through until sometime in July. It's entirely unsettling (forgive the pun).
Hopefully the truck will arrive soon. A 4-hour window of time makes it difficult to really plan, and tell people what time to arrive to help (thank the goddess for wonderful friends who will help orchestrate this!!).
Now, it becomes real. The final countdown starts today.
Hopefully soon I will find a place to live. For now, I will be paying to store the semi at some facility somewhere in another state until I can find a new home and make the necessary arrangement to have all my belongings delivered.
Deep breath...deep breath...deep breath...
