WARNING: F-BOMBS AHEAD!
Recently I was at a lecture who was discussing Planned Parenthood and metioned Proposition 4, which was a hateful anti-abortion law (is there any other kind?) that was up for a vote the same time Prop "H8" was up for vote here in California last year.
It essentially mandated parent notification by physicians via certified mail. It did allow that if the girl had no safe parental or home life situation, there was a judicial bypass built into the law.
Ok, as if doctors don't have enough beaurocratic bullshit that they have to deal with, there was this? And please... reality check! What's the possibility an adult can easily maneuver through our fucked up legal system in any sort of quick and efficient manner. Prop 4 was a fucking joke.
I flashed back to another lecture that I attended during the campaign-this one a debate. I noticed something then, and it re-occurred to me at this recent lecture.
Why are the public faces of anti-abortion almost always middle-age or older white men? Who the fuck do these controlling bastards think they are? The absolute gall of these men to want to legislate thier testosterone-laden opinions when they are ultimately NOT the ones impacted by their decisions never ceases to amaze me. It isn't men that typically have any sort of responsibility for infants and children; rare is it that such a paternalistic motherfucker (literally and figuratively) is even willing to take responsibility to be a Mr. Mom.
I see thier involvement in the anti-abortion movement as just one more way to completely shirk any sort of responsibility for family planning, responsible fucking, or respect for women. What's even more irritating is that it's not like these men that are forcing their will on others are even remotely involved in the decision about what to do. Not your body; and it's not even your child, yet you have the audacity to want to tell some woman that she cannot exercise the ultimate decision about controlling her body?
These men are fucking arrogant fuckpieces and I have no respect for them.
