"Those who want to ban gay marriage spent millions of dollars to reach the public with misleading ads, rallies and news conferences during the campaign to pass Prop. 8. We are curious why they now fear the publicity they once craved," said Chad Griffin, president of the board of the American Foundation for Equal Rights.
Tomorrow begins the next chapter of civil rights for countless Californians in same-sex partnerships who are fighting for recognition. The trial on the consitutionality of Prop 8 begins in federal court in San Francisco tomorrow; the procedings are supposingly slated to be run on YouTube at the end of each day, however this is being challenged and is referenced by the quote above.
Let the next stone be cast in an ongoing batle that sadly won't end anytime soon.
And WTF with Uganda? The supporter of their anti-gay, "death to queers", bill says he won't withdraw it. I say, in honor of the bill, there should be legislation introduced here in the United States that forces African-Americans of Ugandan descent to undergo counseling so that they may more fulling assimilate into the White American culture. Let's help them see that acting black is wrong; that they should act more white.
Kind of an ugly statement, isn't it?
Can anyone tell me why it's any more ugly than the Ugandan suggested alternative that homosexuals be forced into corrective counselling to become heterosexual?
Whether people agree or not with gay marriage, it saddens me that those people reduce and define a great person likeyourself by your sexuality...not knowing you, I still know you have many other incredible attributes. So people need to get over the sexuality obsession and let love exist just to simply exist, no matter the giver and receiver, and ensure you the same rights as all.
